That's probably why so many semipro teams beg for coverage ... they don't have their shit together when it comes to basic scorekeeping, or even how to send in results.

Yes, my Tobacco Road friend, that is a true story. The sad thing about this you might ask? Same person called the local TV station and you guessed it! They covered it.

The dorkboy TV guy went out, filmed it, got the money shot (no not that) of him signing the certificate, then interviewed the kid about how great a day it was. We sat in the office and watched it on TV in total disbelief.

    True story.

Wow. That's pretty stupid, but funny at the same time.

I had one track/XC mom get pissed at me when I said I wouldn't be attending her spawn's "ceremony" one year. He was signing with some D-II school or a juco and I told her no when asked if I'd be there for it. She's still pissed at me, and this happened five or six years ago.

Is she calling/writing on a regular basis to provide updates on how junior is performing?

This is semantics, and your point is absolutely right. But the Patriot League does offer basketball scholarships.

If you were the one who wrote this, which seems highly unlikely considering the crowd that roams around here, you should be banished from the site :). I really can't wrap my head around this one: it's a press release! Judging by the length/photo it looks like something that might have even run on page one.

Congrats to the two girls going on to play D-1 soccer though.

From the fax and not the phone, but the same principle applies.
Written on the bottom of a photocopied page from a boys game tonight was the following: "JV Score 51-49".
While I appreciate the inclusion, it would be nice to know which team had what score.
Co-worker said I had a 50-50 chance of getting it right. I responded that I had a 100 percent chance of not messing it up by not including it in the paper.

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your... newspaper.

I'm confident the (home?) team that sent the fax in won, because otherwise the score would be listed as 49-51.

Now if it had been 51-50 ...
