I've always wanted to jot down the phone numbers of those calling to say we're biased against Podunk East, so when I get the call next week from someone saying we're biased against Podunk West, they can call each other and compare notes.

If you're asking about something other than the one area team in the tourney, the standard answer here is, "All scores will be in your morning paper."

Mark: You know how it is: "Well, of course we do it that way."

The state public schools have five classes, and the boys tournament is played in our city, which is fairly centrally located, and the girls are in Troy, near Albany.

There are also Catholic, Independent (think day prep schools) and the PSAL, which is the New York City league.

The week after the public school tournament, the three biggest classes play in the Federation tournament, which brings those four leagues together.

We had it here for years (boys and girls), but it has since moved to Albany.

Some great players came through here (and Jimmer Fredette played in the state tournament here in his hometown). I missed that, but I guess it was amazing.

Got my first today. She didn't seem satisfied that me saying "they won" wasn't enough info for her when she asked about Syracuse.

Deadspin is the Dimwit on the Phone, calling Applebee's around the country right after each local college finishes its NCAA Tournament game:

She needed to know if they covered the spread since she had them in a three-team parlay.

Clever. I didn't listen to them all...but good morning show radio material right there.

Bounce it right back to them with the topic line:

RESUBMIT WITH FINAL SCORE AND SCORING INFO.

Don't be diplomatic; don't be nice, don't say 'please.' This isn't a request. It's an order.

You don't have time to figure this shit out. If they can't be bothered, the "trash" bin beckons.

A variation on this are folks that are sending us Gamechanger links in lieu of calling in scores. We'll take e-mail boxes, but not if it requires us to do any work besides cutting and pasting and tabbing.

A lot of our teams are using that this year. I'm not sure I like it yet.

We have one team that uses iScore. Gives us a MLB-style box, plus replica scoresheets, if you want to check out a big inning, and even sabrmetrics. Much preferred to Maxpreps.

The juco here has been using it. Since most of its doubleheaders begin at 1 p.m., there's plenty of time to go through and get what I need. It would be different if they were playing nine-inning single games that started at 7 or 7:30.
