It was a meaningless game. The two divisional games they played, Dipstick lost 22-1. So her criticism was so idiotic. Dumbledore had all of their starters. Dipstick had theirs at prom. The fact they played their JV basically was news-worthy.

    Dear caller:

Yes, it's great that you got tickets for Saturday's Cardinals-Rockies game. But, really, you don't know what time the game starts? And, you decide at midnight to call us and ask us what time it starts? Really?

If only they printed the time of the game on the ticket...

Under normal circumstances, and odds are for that game, I'd agree. But with some playoff games, and the late-season NFL games, the times do get switched around.

Depending on when the tickets were purchased, the time might well be listed as TBA. It's become quite normal to switch starting times for TV purposes after the schedule is originally announced.

Of course, that stuff should be readily accessible on the internet, but a surprising number of people do not have internet access 24/7.

Speaking of prom, one of the schools we cover hasn't had its prom. It's next Saturday, which just so happens to be the day of the Class 3-A state track meet in Louisville. A bunch of seniors won't be at State because of it. Usually, it's graduation held on the same day.

I asked one of the coaches at the school about it, and he told me it was the only date without any conflicts. My response: State track isn't a conflict. Interesting ...

The coach isn't very happy about it, but what can you do?

I'm sorry we did not organize a ticker tape parade for the Class I girls golf champ, who shot a two-day total of 180 or so at a county club that's like 4 hours from our office. But we did go to an awful lot of trouble to track her down and interview hr and we did run a mug - exactly the same treatment as the boy who won the Class A state title. You're disappointed we did not do more. That's me, every day.

One of the reasons at least one of the league championship track meets got moved to a Thursday a few years ago was that if it rained Thursday, you could make it up on Friday. But if it rained on Friday, someone would want to wait until Monday to reschedule it because of prom. And every year it rained on that Friday, it seemed some school inevitably had prom on Saturday.

Of course, if it rains Thursday AND Friday...

Honestly, had this conversation: "Why is the divisional tennis on Thursday and Friday?" "They scheduled it that way because of weather concerns. If the tournament is interrupted on Thursday because of weather, they have an extra day to catch up instead of trying to play it all out in one day." "But they'll miss school." "Well, m'am, that's something you'll have to talk to the athletic director about." "Oh, he already told me to complain to someone else. So I called you."

Had a lady call us with TV questions because she knew the TV station was busy and didn't want to bother them. She actually said that.

What's funny/annoying is when they think newspapers control the TV stations and complain to us about the times we air the games.
