When I was SID-ing, our (really bad) soccer team lost to a (really good) soccer team, 11-0. The AD told me in no uncertain terms to not send the results to the media and to not put a story on our website. Our soccer team was really bad.

That's bush league. When I was an SID, we had a women's volleyball team that went 1-26. Did a story and stats on every home match.

When the coach asked me the next summer if we could delete the record from his bio, I politely told him "no".

Dear youth football parents: Please stop sending emails about the little urination competition you're having with the league. It's not news and I won't let our pages be used as a platform for either side. Oh, you say you called the sheriff's office? So did I, and he told me they weren't acting on it because there was no complaint filed. And we both agreed it was silly.

Caller: "What time is the Podunk State game on TV?"

Desk: "Two o'clock, on the local cable access channel."

Caller: "Two o'clock in the afternoon?"

Desk: (sarcastically): "No, two o'clock in the morning."

    Two days later....

Caller: "I called you a couple of days ago and one of your reporters said the Podunk State game was on TV at two o'clock in the morning."

    Desk: "yeah?"

Caller: "Well I set my DVR to record at two o'clock in the morning and all I got was three hours of porn."

Desk: "I'm sorry, sir. Why don't you bring the DVD by the office and S****** will pay you for it. He loves that stuff."

No matter what the sport is, no matter what the situation of the team is, do you guys get a lot of people calling/writing in to insist all the team needs is a new manager who has fire and emotion?

Oh, yeah. Whatever the problem is, it's always the coach/manager's fault.

It's universal. Paired in the wagering with the person who insists, "If the coach will move Smith to receiver and use Jones as a tailback, Podunk will win state!"

"I witnessed arrogance, greed, and nonsportsmanship conduct." (Writer bitching about local private school's 18-0 win in soccer against local intercity poor school.)

Then the writer of the letter to the editor never gives one example of any three accusations.

I think we got five games into the AHL season up here before people started calling for the coach to be fired.

Just got an email from the commissioner or whatever of one of our area youth football leagues. She was wanting to know if we could come cover a tournament her league is hosting this weekend at one of the high schools in town.

We run a weekly youth page each week with bowling, golf, cross country and whatever else gets turned in. This league used to be very good about getting stuff turned in to us -- it was typed on a typewriter by an older gentleman who passed away a few years ago, but it was still turned in on time and in the correct format (even if I did have to go back and retype it).

But since that man has passed away, the league has stopped turning results in. I've tried working with the people I know who are involved with the league, telling them what exactly we need and how to get it to us. But they still turn nothing in.

And now, they expect us to drop everything we have going on this weekend -- state soccer, region volleyball, football on Friday and region cross country Saturday -- to cover this all-day tournament? Nice try, lady.

In before SnarkShark starts bitching about how you are doing this lady a disservice. :)

What a terrible person, asking for coverage and all.
