I never head of that when it happened. Now every time I do one of these signing stories I am going to be thinking of this.

I knew there was a reason I thought he was a vastly overrated comedian. :)

Maybe for major-college D1 football… but try finding a list for, say, track and field. :-\

I saw photos of multiple Ivy Leaguers on Twitter today. Entirely too many high schools had one legit D-I kid, then let everyone else join the party. Of course, by reporting these non-signings, we in the media are giving them legitimacy.

Time to pull out the annual column on why colleges and universities should not give athletic scholarships.

This is the time of year I point to when people asked why I left sports for crime. Do not miss this bullshit.

IIRC, a juco in California gave him a try, but don't recall what happened.

If a big-time player isn't announcing his college choice from a hot tub, I ain't interested.

I have seen at least two instances the last couple of days of JUCO/Prep-type football teams that are not part of any school, but exist for those who don't qualify anywhere to get their grades up. The athletes are supposed to attend junior/community colleges in the area where the organization is located to take classes and boost their grades, then play for these independent teams that play a JUCO/JV/Prep school schedule. Oh, and for one, including room, board, football fees and fees for the local community college, the fee is $16K a year.

Of course, we've had one mother complain that her little pride and joy wasn't listed in our list of scholarship recipients. Somehow you can't explain the reality of life.

If a player or coach tells me Joe/Jill Jock is going to play at Podunk JC and I can confirm the information with the school, I have no problem doing a story and giving them their 15 minutes of fame. (I do hate it when I call up the school the following year only to be told their newest superstar never made it to campus or dropped out the first week. Gee,, wonder why they didn't call me on that one?)

But I'm not going to place detective and be calling high school kids and their parents and their uncles and heaven knows who else at all hours trying to find out who's hoodie he/she's wearing that day and which way he/she is "leaning". This crap too often has taken on a life of its own.

    Feather River Community College.

I also found Kevin Hart on the Missouri Western State University 2012 football roster, but not 2013.

Upon further searching, looks like he's back at Feather River as an offensive line coach.

Like I mentioned on the other thread, we're hamstrung as reporters since the NCAA won't let schools or coaches comment on signees until they get the NLOI in their hot little hands. Been on both sides of that as a reporter and as student help in the SID office.

Since his "signing" took place in 2008, sounds like his eligibility is up?
