No one, at this point, is saying she's the reason.

I have no issue with "blood libel." To me, it's like lowercase "kleenex."

My issue is with the inappropriate self-victimization.

There was a tactful way to handle this. Of course, she went the other way. Surprise, surprise.

    Hey Care Bear,

What kind of message is your avatar sending?

When she stops being a pathetic attention whore who has to open her ignorant mouth and make everything about her, then maybe she'll fade from the spotlight a bit.

The way she targeted Giffords ... and the way Giffords acknowledged it ... makes Palin pertinent to the story. Sorry.

All Palin had to do was issue a simple statement: "I'm horrified by the senseless attack on Saturday. Last year, I sponsored an ad that featured crosshair targets on some Congressional races. Even though there is no evidence the crazy shooter was influenced by this ad, or anything I have said, I have ordered the map taken down, and I'm sorry for any possible violent messages that may be interpreted from that ad. I join the rest of America in praying for the victims and their families."

That's it. Short, simple, to the point. No defending herself, or any attacks.

It's such freaking PR 101, and to not be able to do it astonishes me. Get out in front of the story and own it.

    You just said this yesterday:

Yes, we will. And if the very least that comes out of this is a toning down of the heated BS that flows from both sides, then I'll be satisfied. We've got to somehow discard the notion that someone is evil just because they disagree with us. It happens on both sides, and it's got to stop.

Which are your true feelings? Please clarify, fishguy.

That is not necessarily an either/or proposition.

It didn't even need to be that detailed. Just the first and last sentence, and leave it at that.

If you really think you need to defend yourself, wait until the actual victims are buried.

Apparently, you do not have to wait until the victims are buried to exploit their deaths. Carry on.
