Desk, I'm as partisan as anyone on here. I admit that.

But, I think I'm pretty willing to give credit where it's due and dish out criticism to those on my side.

Check your sig if you need proof.

Just to sidebar a bit-- can't put my finger on it but every time I see Boehner speak he strikes me as the classic carefree country club drinker. The guy you run into that always seems like he has just knocked back 3 or 4 martinis. Fully functioning but always a little bit out of it. Something like the Henry Blake character on MASH or Dean Martin.

Because, while it wasn't officially declared as such, it was a night of mourning (although granted, the crowd at the speech was a little too happy).

The problem for Boehner is that he has demonstrated time and again that he will not cross the aisle. This is hardly unique to him, but I think he's in a very small subset of the most willfully polarizing politicians. So it's hard for him to get the benefit of the doubt. That said, the explanation put forth is entirely plausible, and the story is obviously a cheap tactic to score political points. Pretty sickening. I doubt anyone even noticed who was and wasn't there other than Obama.

That would be something that would drive me bonkers about being in politics: knowing that everything you say and do will be questioned all day long. If Obama said last night that he wanted the lessons of this weekend to live for 100 years, someone would have gotten on cable and said he didn't push it far enough, with advanced science people are going to live for 150 years and they need to remember too.

100% I'll bet it would be dangerous to "socially" drink with Boehner.

Sorry if it came off as backhanded. It wasn't meant that way. I probably should have put that in a post all its own.

Can we compromise and make a law that Congressmen aren't allowed within 1,000 feet of a gun?

She appears to go about her work in much different fashion and with much different goals than the attorney in the lacrosse trial.
