    This is utterly ridiculous.

A college buddy of mine's dad died and I wasn't able to make it to his funeral which was in upstate New York.

Should I have observed the funeral in my apartment in Chicago?

Boehner did nothing wrong. Nothing. And the story being pushed to criticize him isn't even true.

I'll give them the 1000 ft but I don't want to see my congressmen cutting security line at airport.

Heath Shuler won't go for that compromise.

And, based on his NFL career, I'm not sure any of us should be comfortable with the idea of heath packing.

:D :D Now admit it: You had to say that. No offense to 21, but -- and maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention -- but she kind of remains above the fray most of the time on politics and I don't know that I've ever categorized her as a liberal or moderate or conservative. I most definitely would classify her as honorable, though. :D :D

Are you the House Speaker? No.

Appearances count. At least, that's what I've always heard Republicans say, especially during the Clinton presidency. He went to the prayer vigil, then to a political event. He should have just gone home after the vigil.

Interesting proposal from Mark Udall to Congress, suggesting that instead of sitting left v right during the State of the Union, the members of Congress sit all jumbled together. Show of unity, etc.

I've spent eight years being honorable with a Conservative, they can do it for one night! 8)

This is as stupid as the "Obama played golf" or "Obama went on vacation" stories.

The guy did nothing wrong. There is nothing wrong with the "appearances" and it wouldn't be a story if "anonymous Democratic aides" weren't pedaling a false narrative that some in the press were all too happy to lap up.

At the very least, it would definitely unfreeze her face.

I saw some reference to this, but didn't know where the idea came from.

I think it's a dumb idea. Why? Because it won't change anything and they'll be back to there usual ways the next day. (Or, Actually even before we get to the SOTU.)

It will just expose themselves as the shameless phonies they are.

You seem to be arguing that this is both a lie and something we should not make a fuss over and that everyone does.

I don't really care one way or another, but get your ducks in a row.
