MSNBC really started the whole concept. Roger Ailes just had a better plan.

Olberman was first on MSNBC in 1996 with The Big Show. Fox was not even on many cable outlets at that point.

You could also make the argument that it all started with the Clinton News Network.

A lot of it is low-hanging fruit, but Stewart is the best media critic in America.

I would argue that the ratings show there is no "demand for liberal alternative."

And I'll still submit that Fox was the first "alternative" considering the liberal pudding ABC, CBS and NBC were putting out.

Whoops. Looks like you've been sold another bill of goods.

Seems the slogan came directly from Team Obama and was featured there back in 2008 on the Obama website.

And that all said, I don't really care. But why did they have to lie?

Who cares where they came from or who paid. No doubt though that the tee shirts contributed to creating atmosphere of a pep rally as opposed to memorial service.

Actually, that meme has been debunked too. From my original link ...

So, yeah, good luck with being a shirter.

Tony, "Together We Thrive" is a headline from a community blog on a user-based part of Obama's website. There are 22,645 pages of results. That's no more a "Team Obama" slogan than one of my posts is a Sportsjournalists slogan.

  9. I love the irony of trying to use the phrase "together we thrive" to divide.

C'mon, man. A lot of folks -- liberal and conservative -- agree the T-shirts may not have been the best idea and the atmosphere wasn't what we expected. That said, a university official has said the shirts were paid for by the university without any taxpayer funds, so why the need to create something so sinister out of a well-intentioned, but poorly executed idea?

As for that pep rally atmosphere, while I may not have personally felt it was the right tone, as others have said, it's a tough line in trying to tell other folks how to mourn. I think some in the crowd were probably just college kids who recklessly treated this like some event that called for them to hoot and holler. I think for others, it may have just been a release from a lot of emotional turmoil.

There is a time and place for everything and Act like you've been there before are the statements that apply.

Not a bad reflection on Obama at all.

There's a blog devoted to getting Andrea Mitchell fired?

So it's just a coincidence that the University of Arizona picked the exact same words. You keep buying.

And again, like I said, I don't care. But why did they have to lie, and how did they have such a detailed "explanation" so readily available for when their "coincidence" was discovered?
