I just think it's more of a history lesson for the youngsters on the board
The weatherman running for office would have been tantamount to selling out to the man.

Weatherman group wanted to show their opposition to Federal Govt through violence and anarchy. The Tea Party wanted to foster change by getting their candidates elected to office.

Based on how much the political landscape has changed in past 6 months I would say that the Tea Party plan was pretty successful.

With the indirect threat of "If we don't get elected, we may need to use Second Amendment remedies."

Sorry, but I'm having a hard time believing you are an expert on the subject considering:

Reading a Wikipedia entry doesn't make you an expert.

It's a small thing, but in case you guys missed it, check out this article.

It made me proud of a Kennedy -- no easy task:

Wow - that is a great find. I can't see a tea party member ever dedicating a book to sirhan sirhan.

Ayers is much more analogous to Scott Roeder, the murderer of abortion provider George Tiller, than he is to any Tea Party member.

I still can't believe he was employed for years by the University of Illinois. He never served time. He never paid his debt to society. He only got off on a technicality.

I can't imagine that Scott Roeder would have been able to integrate himself into polite society if he had been let off on a technicality.

It's also a disgrace that Bernardine Dohrn, who can't get a law license, is employed as an associate professor of law at Northwestern Law School.

Good for Chris Kennedy for at least denying Ayers the honorific of holding emeritus status at UIC.

This guy was shot, so I obviously sympathize with him, but this story is pretty interesting/funny, considering all of the rhetoric.

Take a look at who was arrested, and who wasn't. I'll give you a hint. It wasn't the Tea Party member who was making threats:

Was it the Tea Party member who yelled, "you're dead?"

Maybe you're trying to argue that we can't be sure what else was said and went unreported, but this event was taped by ABC and was well attended.

There is no evidence that I've seen that points to the Tea Party member making anything that could be construed as a threat.

The fellow that was arrested is a Democratic operative, and he made threats. Now, given the circumstances (i.e. he was shot only days ago), I'll give the guy a pass.

While everyone else has moved along, the Times is still trying to tie him to the 'right-wing":
