You do know that report was commissioned by the Bush Administration, right? And that it was a companion piece to an earlier report about threats from left-wing organizations in the country?

Of course, my contributions have been to steer it away from political blame and look at the gun control issue -- but that's my agenda.

 

There's no political gain to be made here, only a plea for decency that's been ignored for the past 3 years.

 

Only not educational to those with severe reading disabilities. Or a serious need to dodge the truth lest their agenda be shredded.

 

This is really what is disappointing in our supposed country that was built on freedom of speech and the refuge for those wrongly persecuted:

"We will remind the living that you can still repent and obey. This is ultimatum time with God."

Yep, let's just kill those that we disagree with. "Oh merciful and compassionate [GOD]."

 

What's really sad is media outlets will give the WBC freaks coverage. Even though they've repeatedly announced plans to picket funerals and then not shown up. Or only had one or two people there.

Much like message board trolls, if we'd ignore the Phelps cult it would go back under the rock.

 

I for one don't have a problem with Phelps saying those things because he's exposed his hate and bigotry to the world. Part of having a marketplace of ideas is letting people come to the market and lay it all on the table.

 

I would imagine that folks could turn that garbage he spews into a more inspiring story by following the lead of the people who recently volunteered to form a human wall so the WBC blowhards couldn't get anywhere close to a family for a funeral it was picketing.

Don't remember the exact situation, but it was relatively recently. A facebook group started and volunteers drove from all over. They formed enough of a perimeter that Phelps and his clan couldn't get within shouting distance.
