It's not a defense, but we are more civil, despite notions to the contrary. It's inaccurate to claim that the Tea Party, Palin or frankly anyone on the left is to blame for a sudden rise of vitriol in politics. If people really didn't like it, vote the bums out. But we keep electing Michelle Bachmann's and Charles Rangel's to office, and suddenly we are shocked when they say or do stupid things. It's disingenuous.

Like those views hadn't already been exposed a thousand times over. Was there anyone else that needed to be convinced about the slimebaggery of Fred Phelps?
Wish to god that we'd just stop giving coverage to these Phelps/Westboro pronouncements, accomplishes nothing and gives him exactly what he wants every time.

Man I wish that guy would just die soon so we don't have to hear about him every time a tragic national story arises. How's that for inflammatory rhetoric?

But screw Alex Baldwin anyway. He said he was moving out of the country if Bush got re-elected. I put in a bid for his house and lost money. He owes me.

Agree on all counts. It's not a "things these days, they are so much different than the good ol' days" scenario.

At least you didn't get a cell phone apology from Baldwin.

Try listening to Mark Levin or Michael Savage sometime.

    Jay didn't specify elected officials.

In fact, Sarah Palin is not an elected official.

Matthews was a Dem staffer. Baldwin was just quoted in the NY Post about his desire to run for office.

The Missouri Democratic Party is run by, well the Missouri Democratic Party.

Instead of poo-pooing it, some of you on the left could attain some credibility with the rest of us by admitting that this kind of rhetoric is used on your side as well.

Well even then I could have broke even by selling my story with the call as proof, to Entertainment Tonight or Inside Edition. Hell I could have turned it into a bidding war.

    Damn him even more now.

C'mon. Sarah Palin is running for president.

Al Franken called Rush Limbaugh a big, fat idiot, so I'll give you that.

    Savage? No thanks.

Levin is tape delayed here and is on after I'm home, but I've listened to him in the past.

There are entire organizations like Media Matters that listen to every word these guys say. If they say what you claim, it will be easy to pull up clips and transcripts.

In their absence, it's just empty words and it's disappointing to see from a journalist.

If they're saying these things all the time, post the quotes.
