That's crap. This thread has been primarliy filling the void with politically charged speculation, with most hoping to get in one last 'Scoreboard!' And you're the last person to be calling out someone for posts that add nothing of substance. Also, in case you're wondering, I was not thinking of you when I said this bullshit has drawn in even generally respected posters.

With all of this talk about "vitriol" and "rhetoric", does someone want to point out a time when they thought there was less of it?

Sure, there's more outlets for it -- Talk Radio, 24 Hour All News Cable Channels, and the Internet -- but the content is no different.

Candidates & their surrogates say the same thing. Political advertising is the same.

Newspapers are much less vitriolic. In the past, newspapers were outright partisan. Look into historical political cartoons.

Funny thing is that when I first heard about this and the fact that there were 20 victims, not just one politician, I thought this had the potential to bring people together because who would want to take credit for such a tragedy?

Sadly, it appears that just like practically everything else, this has become a talking point for partisanship rather than a rallying cry for simple emotions like, compassion, respect for each other, and a commitment to disavow violence in the name of political gain.

Boy, thank you for informing me when I'm being sincere; I just never know these things. And why you felt the need to personally attack me, when I'm generally a pretty respected poster who adds a lot to many things, I dunno. You may not agree with my point, but I am fully sincere about it.

As Buck used to say: "Vitriol: It's what's for breakfast."

Maybe this has been brought up earlier in the thread when I was more preoccupied, but whenever I see this sheriff blabbering, I keep wondering how it was possible that at an event for a public figure, someone was allowed to walk up, empty an entire clip, then RELOAD and start shooting again before he was subdued. Maybe I'm missing something, but where was the security?

Ah forget it. He probably thought he was sending fresh fish.

To compare Sarah Palin's rhetoric as being worse than this.....Mercy. And that's what grates me. The left never sees the speck in their own eye.

He thought he was sending it to the person who was buying Alec Baldwin's house.
