    Come on.
If I say 'Manhattan' without the 'KS' even people who live in Manhattan, KS, think I'm talking about the real Manhattan.

We're not L.A. yet. Agree on going to Breck that time of year. But there's still plenty to do here, even in March.

March is, technically, the snowiest month of the year here at 5,280. April and May the past two years have been pretty rough, actually.

tbf, distillery tour. Leopold Bros. run by a friend of mine. Highly recommended. I can put you in touch - might be able to get you a more of a "behind the scenes" tour than their standard tours.

They make all kinds of small batches, including Apertivo, Absinthe, Navy Strength Gin, Maryland Rye Whiskey, lots of tasty liqueurs, etc.

There could be a blizzard. You could be in shorts. March is goofy around here, weather-wise. Much like October, though I prefer October.

Yes, it's a cool town. PM me or post here on what you guys like/are looking for, though I'm not an expert guide on the 420. You won't be hiking that time of year, no matter the weather. Actually, even if it snows in March, it will be gone in 24 hours. It's a heavy/wet snow that time of year. We're not hunkered in like Gee is in Boston after Halloween until Memorial Day.

Red Rocks is cool. Garden of the Gods. Depends how much you're willing to go out of the city. There's skiing, drinking, gambling, breweries within a short distance. Food options range from the predictable (lots of steak places; we're still a cowtown at heart) to the off-the-charts (Buckhorn Exchange) to spots in between depending on tastes/desires.

I live in Breck. Lots of stuff to do if you won't want to hit the hill. But, it will be a shit show. Driving through town is not fun. Avoid main street in a car at all costs. We have a great free buss system. It could be bluebird and 35/40* or a blizzard with ridiculous amounts of wind. March is very snowy, but we also get lots of sunny nice days.

Speaking of weather - it's going to be high 50s/low 60s on Friday in Denver. Heading down the hill to get in some road cycling. It's going to be glorious.

If you want advice if you come up to Summit, just let me know! Happy to help.

Sorry, folks. I was kind-of banking on the fact that everyone understood I don't live in NYC. I mean, there ain't no big Army post off 42nd Street.

The six-and-change drive from Manhattan (really, Ft. Riley, which is 20 minutes west) to Denver is totes doable. I've made it from Riley to the Springs a couple of times in less -- as long as the weather's good. It's straight, flat interstate with no cops (or gas stations) for miles.

I think a couple of problems exist for us in Breckenridge. A.) It's damned expensive. We'd have to rent gear (although that cost could be offset by renting our stuff at Ft. Carson), get ski lessons and lift tickets, and while we're generally Holiday Inn-type folk, anything outside that is 3 bills a night. B.) None of us have ever skied before, and I'm afraid at least 50 percent of the family wouldn't like it. My wife and son are huge chickenshits when it comes to stuff like that. We're lake/boat/beach folk, and I'm afraid it just wouldn't be in our DNA.

The kids love zoos, aquariums, parks, shows, watching dad drink beer at breweries, museums, so I think Denver is most likely the best fit for us.

This line had me chuckling. "Slow down Dad, you've had one too many!"

Dude, we've dragged these two kids to so many breweries and wineries, I'll be lucky if they're not raging alcoholics in their mid-20s.

So your family is afraid to risk knees and necks but not so much livers?
