    Re: Design thread *updated 11/22*

The spacing, and use of the word "favourable" indicated the Gulf News is not a paper in Mississippi. But why would a European sports section devote a page to Herschel Walker?

    It's from Dubai.

And I think it's more a case of devoting a page to what the Westerners buying the paper might be interested in.

But again, this is just a guess.

that page screams "we have nothing better to CP with ..."

and hell, it's the middle of NFL, beginning of college football, end of high school sports ... there's a whole helluva lot to CP with

I can't see who the turkey is, anyone know?
And if you think that's bad, you should have seen Greene dressed up as the "Fat Lady."
    Yikes!

Not taking content into account, it was a hellaciously catchy CP; I would have made the "OF" all white, tho; it's almost impossible to see. Also, that column format adds too much gray to the page, and the top format is way too busy and has too much small type.

I've got no problem with that CP. You don't have huge stuff 365 days, and this is the type of story somebody would sit down with on Thanksgiving morning as the smells waft out of the kitchen. I usually follow hoops' "we are not the story" theory ... to me, this might be an exception.

I was under the impression the turkey was Jerry Greene also.

Yes there is a lot going on and Greene is looking at the big games over the weekend.

That column is too damned wide. Is it that wide every day?
