    Agreed.

As a jube shot I find this one very lacking. Especially since it's following that marathon Gonzaga-Michigan State game, you'd hope a shooter would capture something a bit better.

I've made peace with the fact that most action hoops shots are going to be "assholes and elbows".

I'm sure the photog had some good photos and better than what was in print. But I'm sure it's the SE's call as to what photo he wants to run in his or her section.

I like the Bears treatment (minus the type on the headline).

I'm just not sure I like it on the top half of the page ...

I can't read the photo credit, but I sure hope it says photo ILLUSTRATION.

The light type in the headline is unnecessary.

And the page is unbalanced. This is one where someone should have said: "Nice effort, but let's go in another direction."

That's what I was getting at on the type for the headline.

Let the headline stand alone. If readers don't get it, they don't get it. But don't beat them over the head with what you're trying to say.

is it just me or does it feel awfully jumbled...

the top is too overwhelming and the bottom is just, well, kinda thrown together and awkward -- it's like it's an afterthought

I think the top is OK (after all, a centerpiece should be somewhat overwhelming). But the bottom does look thrown together.

Designer: "Whew! I think that looks pretty good. . . . Whoops, I still have the rest of the page to do, and it's 15 minutes to deadline!"
