Not being a smartass here, but is there a difference in this case between putting the best foot forward and spinning to the point you insult the reader's intelligence?

I'm certainly not one to avoid criticism where it's due but i'll give these people here one thing, and that includes Anger, they are at least trying SOMETHING rather than just throwing up their hands and saying, OK, we'll cut half the staff. We've had no layoffs and just the two rounds of buyouts in past two years. That's a lot more than a lot of places can say right now.

Seriously... the Michigan 6. Come on! What a joke.

I don't know...to me, it really is damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

They have to cut the size of the print product. They can present it this way, or they can come out and say, "Well, this new print product is a gutted piece of shit, but it's the best we can do."

Obviously, he can't do that either.

Paul Anger is a good guy who deserves a better fate.

Let me guess, drippy, he's one of the 90 percent of the nation's newspaper workforce that you have worked for?

On the other hand, he has always been good with challenges, and he's a good guy to have on your side. In this situation, you could do worse than to have him as your manager.

No henry, I worked for him. Do me a favor and go somewhere else with the bullshit. People really need information on these threads and not your usual poor one-line and ill timed zingers. It's not needed.
I apologize to the rest of the members on board for the outburst.

Not to threadjack, Drip but did you see Skip Bayless make fun of Rob Parker this week on ESPN for not having a job?

No doubt he's a guy who loves a challenge and has done extremely well. I just think this challenge is too much for a good guy like him to be saddled with. If he fails, and I don't think he will but there is that possibility, it's not going to look good to some of the folks at Gannett.
No I didn't see Skip Payless make fun of Rob Parker but if he did, that's pretty fucked up. Skip is not exactly on a ship that isn't taking on water.

Free Press begins the transformation tomorrow. No home delivery.

Timing couldn't be worse. Final Four in Detroit. Big concerts and events all weekend. Michigan State will be playing too.

Oh and Obama is making Rick Wagoner, the head of GM step down.

On Tuesday, when the paper also isn't delivered, readers would probably be reading about Obama's plan to save the auto industry.
