Feel the same way, slappy. I grew up with these papers too (although you for a bit longer than I :D )

And we both know good people at the papers.

From the pipeline, management requested a meeting with union leadership Tuesday morning. When asked about the 300 layoffs, there was a remark made that not everything that's being bandied about is necessarily accurate. So don't count on your nondelivery before it's hatched.

I'm a fan of e-editions, so done right this could be OK. But you're throwing under the bus your customer that truly cares about having a PAPER product in hand. There are some senior citizens comfortable with reading an e-edition, but the majority do not.

Another thing... abbreviated print product, expanded e-edition. By how much? If the print product on Monday is, say, 28 pages, while the e-edition is double the size, that could direct traffic.

Regardless, it's interesting to see where this will head.

News is following suit. Everyone I talked to in their 20s feels the same way as I do. They either get the paper and rarely read it, or read it online.

Their parents and grandparents however, are going to be furious.

One of my friend's said it best.

"My dad is going to flip out. His day isn't complete until he has his cup of coffee, a cigarette and a newspaper."

You can't clip out a web story and save it. You could print it out, but it looks fake.

Can I just donate to the charity, and skip reading the speech?

It will be strange not having the paper on the table in the morning.

I'm afraid that many of the older people are going to be slighted by this and either discontinue and only get the paper on Sunday's or discontinue all together.

Presser scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday to discuss "organizational changes."

Saw it on the local news, looking for a link now.
