Pretty sure 4 (Trinity) was one of the best seasons of a TV show I've ever witnessed. Fanfreakingtastic.

I thought this was the last year. Guess I'm wrong.

I don't really know which season was which.
I loved the first season because it was new to me.
I really liked the storyline with crazy Jimmy Smits.
The Angel and LaGuerta affair storyline made me want to smash the tv.
    The Trinity storyline was great.
Speaking of smashed, I hated the storyline with Julia Stiles, who looks like she was smashed in the face with a frying pan.
I thought the DDK storyline was alright, not great.

I'm still upset they killed off Rita. I kind of had a tv crush on her.

I despised Rita, and the entire Jimmy Smits storyline was the worst thing on television. I hated that season with a passion I can't even put into words.

I guess we have to agree to disagree.

The Rita killing is still the best season-ending episode I've ever seen. I'd rank the seasons 4, 2, 1, 6, 3, 5. I loved in season 2 that Doast had him figured out, was ready to expose him and Dexter just got away. That made for some really great drama so early in the series. I was never too impressed with season 6 until the finale, which was a total "Oh, Shit!" moment.

Meh is right. You would think that Dexter would have been able to must up a slightly more believable acting job (no shock, no disbelief, no remorse). Debra didn't buy it from the get-go.

This is why I dreaded this season. I'm going to try to enjoy it, but I think it died for me last night. The Deb they've written for five years would NEVER have acted that way. Ever.

That's what I kept saying during the episode. He kept up the "I just snapped, I'm shocked at what I did" charade for about two minutes, then he was back to same 'ol Dex. And she BOUGHT it?!? WTF?

The airport scene was beyond stupid and the only way the season would have had any chance of being good, is if Dexter would have killed Deb last night.

I don't have an issue with Deb not suspecting Dexter right away. I was actually kind of surprised that she caught him within the first episode. Last night encapsulated the main dichotomy of Deb that we've been driving toward since the beginning. On the one hand is her Javert-like nature as a by-the-book cop and on the other hand is the fact that she loves and cares about Dexter in a way that goes far beyond the way she feels about anyone else in her life. As much as she had nagging thoughts, she didn't want to believe that Dexter could be a killer. I enjoyed it as an opener. It wasn't great, but the show hasn't been great for a while.
