Did Imus talk about the Rutgers women's team?

A guy like Obama scares the bejeebers out of guys like Jesse and Sharpton. Because he plucks the race card entirely out of their hands and without that, their meal tickets are cut off.

Have Jesse and Sharpton come out and endorsed Obama yet? I didn't think so.

    Their silence is deafening.

    New York Post headline:

  3. I just read Ifill's column -- yet another condescending, patronizing, self-absorbed, oh-so-PC piece of NYT crap. She suggests that what Imus said somehow takes away from the accomplishments of the team. I don't think that's true at all. Rutgers is only on the periphery here. She probably never paid attention to the team until now.

If she doesn't want to take away from the accomplishment of the team, then she shouldn't write about this. There's going to be a press conference at Rutgers about what the team thinks of what Imus said. Well, I mean, Jesus Criminey. I feel bad for Stringer and the players -- they've been plunked in the middle of a racial controversy they didn't have anything to do with.

Imus and Mcgurk calling young women nappy headed ho's was fucked up. If it were my daughter on that team, I'd demand to see him on the street. You should feel the same way too.
As for rap songs, while those lyrics should have no place, they are not directed at one specific person or a group of individuals by name. Imus and his stooges did direct those comments to Rutgers University.
Is Don a racist or a bigot? No. Is he a jackass for making a stupid remark? Yes.

This is a chicken-or-egg thing. Sharpton wants to get rid of speech like this - happened with the whole Michael Richards episode, too.

I think it's symptomatic of misogyny in society as a whole.

Sharpton and his ilk think that when you eliminate the symptoms - hate speech - you start to chip away at the disease, bigotry.

I think you have to attack the source and begin making progress to lift women and authorities up. Hillary or Obama winning the Dem nomination would probably be a nice step.

There is no chicken or egg thing. He fucked up and should be punished. His asking Rutgers for forgiveness, that takes a lot of balls.

Does he really? Has he campaigned to get rappers to stop using such phrases? If he has, I missed it.

This insult was directed to a group of people who were clearly recognized. Lyrics in a song are just words that people put in different connotations. Again, if my daughter was on the Rutgers team and a bozo like Imus and McGurk called her a nappy headed ho, my next move would be to go to the radio station and have an up close and personal chat. I guarantee you, Astoria would make my best towns for an ass whipping thread.

Exactly what connotation can you put the n-word or "hos" that isn't derrogatory.

None. But there's a helluva difference when you just say ho and calling a basketball team nappy headed ho.

Well, I suppose you could tell him he's not allowed shake down any corporations for a specified period of time. [/suggestion made by Toyota and dozens other businesses]

That's such a bigoted statement. He's shaking down companies because he's demanding more minority representation? Tell me Ragu, what have you done to help any minority?
