Did Mitt Romney assault a prep school classmate?

I remember taking my wife to the wedding of my college roommate. She had heard all the stories about how insane this guy was in college and all the drugs he did and how he could drink anyone under the table and partied 24-7.

The person she met at age 32 didn't even resemble the person as he was described at age 18-22. I remember her saying that she expected to meet Bluto from Animal House and instead was introduced to someone who seemed like a Little League dad.

How many of the people here who are in their 30s or 40s or even older even remotely resemble the person you were when you were in college?

I think most people here are self-delusional enough to believe that the character flaws they had in college haven't manifested themselves in different ways today.

No media bias here, nope, the Washington Post wasn't trying to offer a narrative to hurt Romney...

And yep, this was such an important story to tell the sister of the victim has refuted it and said it is disgusting that someone would use lies about persecution of a dead man to try and further their political agenda...

When will "they" start asking questions of the Washington Post?

Betsy Lauber, one of John Lauber’s three sisters, spoke with ABC News Tuesday night regarding the accuracy of the story.

“The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family,” she said.

    Washington Post, you listening?

Here, of course, is the real reason that Obama decided to become enlightened about gay marriage and the Washington Post magically floated this story about Romney's past....

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

And, I know, I know, polls are for loser - but make no mistake it has been my experience that if the external polls are showing these trends, so are Obama's own polling data.

He knows the numbers for this week are bad and needed to change the narrative away from jobs, economy and more failed economic policies......

The story Mizzou was referring to.

I get the feeling there are a lot of, shall we say, complicated family issues and secrets being dredged up by this. I wonder if the family had some issues with what their boy was becoming -- and whether that was why he was sent away to Cranbrook (the sister says he was a boarder, not a day student).

Christine Lauber, who is a few years older than John Lauber, was at college when the alleged incident happened, and said the brother and sister were “doing our own thing” at the time. ...

She described her brother as a “very unusual person.”

“He didn’t care about running with the peer group,” Christine Lauber said. “What’s wrong with that?”

    ...

“Even if it did happen, John probably wouldn’t have said anything,” Christine Lauber said.

She added she and her sisters will likely put out a statement later via a family attorney.

“If he were still alive today, he would be furious [about the story],” she said with tears in her eyes.

Of course, with John Lauber having been dead for eight years, we'll never get his side.

It's a great day for America when a president is accused of coming out for same-sex marriage in order to GAIN votes.

    That's a nice change from 2004, isn't it?

In order to shore up his base, which has always been for gay marriage anyway, and also in order to show he is somehow different than his opponent.

I don't believe for a second that Obama came out with his stance on gay marriage to help himself in the polls, because there has been no indication that it will help him in the polls.

I don't care what side you're on, you have to give credit when it's due.

I'll hit the big 5-0 this fall. I am so completely different from that person I was when I was in high school/college that, when I think about it, it's scary.
