Liberal American journalists are liberals first, journalists second and Americans third.

Anyone who seriously believes this "give Obama cover" thing is a raging moron.

Yes, there are a few reporters left on this website. And they don't spend their time wanking into tin foil hats.

Raging moron my ass. OK, wise guy, explain the timing? You mean the Washington Post just happened to decide to run the story when it did? They made the decision in a vacuum? If you were a real journalist you'd know a story like that takes time to research, write, and edit. Tin-foil hat, my ass. I'm the most skeptical person I know, unwilling to buy into conspiracy theories. I simply call them as I see them, and I call bullshit on the timing of the running of this story.

And by the way, Double Down, why the personal attack? Just because you've posted eight million times doesn't give you the right to come after a newbie. That's one reason I don't post often on this site because of bullshit like you flung at me. Why can't we have a reasonable discussion about the timing of the story? You could be right, maybe the timing was just coincidental, but I doubt it. A conspiracy theory worthy of tin-foil hat mockery would be the White House knew about the story and told the Post to hold it until after Obama made his announcement. Whoever believes that is truly nuts, and I never hinted at that happening. Still I am scorned for asking a legit question.

Welcome Sharkmc. Well said. The decision to run the Romney story did not take place in a vacuum

As a journalist, I assume it ran when it did to, you know, sell the maximum number of newspapers.

I apologize to DD for answering for him on this one. But when you come in with "is anyone on this site a real journalist," you can A) STFU and b) buy the next beer or five.

Just curious . . . had Obama never said anything about gay marriage all the way up until election day, when would the story have run?

When would that "perfect juxtaposition" (gay basher vs. gay supporter) have taken place?

Or would they have just held the story until Obama needed some kind of cover for something else?

That's the problem with theories such as yours. You can ALWAYS find fault with the timing over something. If the story had run the day after the GOP convention, you'd say it was done on purpose to deflate the party's momentum. If it was published a couple of months ago after some primary victories, you'd say it was done on purpose to deflate the momentum from the primary victories. If it's published after Obama's poll numbers drop, you'd say it was done on purpose to prop those numbers back up. And so on.

... which is the reality for 98% of smear stories in political campaigns.
