Chuck Nevitt is the man in the middle as the Lakers celebrate winning the 1985 NBA title in Boston Garden.

The two White Sox who almost collide are Scott Fletcher and Harold Baines. Running in from center is either Rudy Law or Daryl Boston. Too quick of a shot to know for sure.

Watch out, I'm on a roll - the Blazer jumping up and down is Audie Norris.

Anyone mention the two Sonics, Terence Stansbury and Jack Sikma, yet?

Actually, that wasn't the original video --- the one with the sports highlights came later. If you're talking about the version with a street musician intercut with Dire Straits on a stage, then that is the original version MTV played before the sports version was released here in the States.

That's cool and thanks for clearing it up. But the sports highlights version got much, much more airplay and was the version of the video used when the song was on the charts in late '85.

Yeah, and Empty Vee ran it into the ground outside its studio at one point. Got to the point where if that video came on, I either changed the station or turned the TV off and popped in my Brothers In Arms cassette.

Can't argue with that. MTV definitely had it on heavy rotation a tad too long.

But Lord do I pine for the days when MTV actually overplayed videos.

  10. Is that Wade Boggs tumbling over himself after a close play at first?
Also, not sure about the dancing old man. Mr. Les Boulez wasn't THAT old back in the 80's (pre-Senate run days) was he?
