Division I-AA or FCS? Division I-A or FBS?

    That's what we did last season in just about every college football story. It seemed to work just fine.

    Yes, and don't call either team a "loser." They're the "second-best team on the field."

    I go with Tar Heel when I refer to the team.

    In the latest SI they use 1-AA in their stories. Thank you SI for not being politically correct.

    First of all, I don't like the name change. If you're going to change your name, make it not sound like an already common name. FCS looks and sounds like BCS. And all BCS teams are also FBS teams, but no BCS teams is an FCS team, yada, yada, yada.

    It sucks.

    However, it is the title now. There is no I-AA or I-A, just like there is no longer a college division. So in my paper, it's FBS and FCS.

    I just say "the former Division I-A" and "the former Division I-AA."

    Or correct, period. It's I-AA, not 1-AA.
