You basically asked this same question on the previous page regarding his integrity being questioned, and Andy Friedlander answered it well. You can read that again.

I don't think that's an argument either. It's an observation.

    You tell me:

    And, that melded into:

I'd say we came pretty damn close by association and context, Dick.

Andy's post frames it pretty well too.

    * Someone didn't read what I posted -- someone who seems to have a habit of moving the goal posts. I said if you're going to ... oh, fuck it. It's obvious what I said. Some people just like to change the argument. They are usually the same people who can't smell their own B.S. because they've been steeped in it for so long.

I think the venom goes both ways.

    Well, that's wrong.

But I wouldn't paint the entire field with that broad of a brush.

And it certainly doesn't discredit the use of their statistics to evaluate player value.

  6. The criticism is not that they think they're right, it's in how they do so. To many of them, if you don't reach the same conclusion they did, you're either stupid, stubborn or haven't bothered to do your research, when in fact none of those are necessarily true.

I didn't respond directly to your post because it didn't respond to mine. My initial post had nothing to with the vote.

They should not make motive judgments like that, I agree.

    I don't care about Grant's motive.

I just care that he was wrong.

I guess I'm still not sure how you can say that, since the entire process is essentially subjective.

    Unless you're being facetious.

FWIW, I think that when it comes to a season MVP, I think things like situational/clutch hitting should come into play. Regardless of whether it was just good fortune, if you hit, say, a bunch of walk-off home runs, that is value added that season to your team. Doesn't matter if it was luck. All that matters is what happened.
