You're going to ruin your reputation as an elitist by admitting to listening to Mike Golic.

Don't you have a New Yorker article you can post?

If he posts his nonsense here, I'll knock him.

It's really simple. You can skip the party, you can bring some food of your own, or you can eat one meatless meatless meal. But, to go, and then bitch and moan about the hospitality offered is classless. You are criticizing not only their manners, but their lifestyle and morals.

And, if you are that judgmental of them, maybe you aren't well suited to be their friend.

I went to an Indian couple's home for dinner, and all they served was Indian food. What the fuck? Don't they know not everyone likes that shit? Why didn't they prepare some American food, out of respect for their guests?

The indignation of *having* to eat meatless at a friend's dinner party ...

As I said a few days ago, that's the real takeaway here. That, and #POY2013.

Yeah, I think people are focusing way too much on vegetarian and/or vegan food as some odd, gross tasting, tofu infested, food group.

If you simply think of it as meatless, it's a lot more approachable. (And, truthfully, vegan is a little tougher.)

Lots of food we eat all the time is vegetarian. No one looks at a cheese pizza and says, "what is this vegetarian crap?"

If you specifically do not like tofu, then skip the tofu dish, if they serve one. But, judge individual dishes on their own merits. There's no reason to bash a whole category of food just because it lacks meet.

Yes, you did. And, you were right.

Ir reminds me of the speech the kid gives at the end of the Mormon South Park episode.

Not to mention, vegetarians/vegans, at least the ones I know, have learned how to season their meals well. You almost forget that whatever it is you're eating is meatless. Never thought I'd try tofu until I had it one night, all seasoned up and whatnot. It was like eating a really good omelet. Never, ever thought I'd want to try eggplant till a veggie friend coated and fried up a hunk of it. It was delicious.

I may have missed it but what was on the menu the night of this vegetarian couple's party for *friends*?
