    Some people also understand hospitality.

Notice that there are options other than no meat at all. And I have no problem making a meatless meat for someone, but if someone invites me over for a holiday dinner or a Super Bowl party and there is no meat, I will decline. They choose not to serve meat at holidays, I choose to eat it at holidays.

They invite me over for one meal, I am fine, but not thrilled.

I'm the biggest meat eater on the planet. But my goodness, 93, your defiance on this astounds me.

Someone invites you over for a Super Bowl party -- and all of your really good friends are there -- but there's no meat so you won't go?

    I don't get it.

I doubt any of my friends would go either. In fact, where I watch the SB, and have my fantasy football night and poker night is at a buddy's house whose wife is a vegetarian. Somehow she does not burst into flames if cooked meat enters her house.

I want to know what mustangj17, the ultimate Super Bowl party animal, thinks about this.

I can't say I've ever felt terribly oppressed when I've been served meatless lasagna or baked ziti or chili at friends' homes.

However, I am offended if Budweiser is the only beer they offer.

Actually, I think that's an apt comparison.
I drink good beer; however, if I go to someone's house I am not offended if they only have Bud or Coors or Miller or something of that ilk.
Being offended that someone didn't serve you an entrée that included meat is akin to being offended because the host only served schwag beer.

It's always the fringe relatives who become the biggest pains in the ass. We had babysitting set up for the entire reception at pretty considerable expense and the day before the wedding, one of my wife's cousins called up and wanted to know if they babysitters would have Strawberry-Kiwi juice for her kid, because that's all her precious little brat will drink.
