Not bad. UNLESS YOU'RE THROWING A PARTY!!!!

Nah. That sounds pretty good. I can do without the mushrooms, but everything else looks legit.

We'd definitely have a problem if we ever get married. I love mushrooms more than anything. Oysters, criminis, shitakes, portabellas, even these weird Korean enoki mushrooms a little place nearby has.

I do a mean mushroom barley soup in the winter with about 10,000 different varieties of mushrooms (the secret ingredient is dill) and again not vegan, but I do a mushroom stroganoff thing that you'd probably hate. :)

Costanza is an expert in dill, too.

I don't hate mushrooms. They're just not my favorite. I eat them on pizza, for example, without too much complaint. But I don't seek them out often at all. My wife refuses to eat mushrooms at all, which is fine.

We cooked a huge pork tenderloin yesterday while we were at work. Had the meat potoatoes last night. BBQ sandwiches for lunch today, and BBQ nachos planned for tonight. All for around $20.

Funny you priced it, because we try to do one big lunch thing each weekend that we can eat at least 4 days during the week. This week we did this salad that has so much stuff in it and I was saying yesterday that it must have ended up being kind of expensive. But then we roughly repriced everything (while we were walking), and divided it out by how many meals we get and how good it is, and it didn't seem as bad as I thought it might have been.

It has forbidden rice (a black rice), mangoes, oranges, scallions, red onions, jalapeno peppers, cilantro, roasted peanuts, olive oil and freshly squeezed limes. It's kind of a bitch to cut up all that stuff, but Ms. Ragu did all the work Sunday and I am enjoying the fruits of her labor. It is a really fantastic mix where everything plays off each other incredibly -- the sweetness of the oranges and mangoes, the starch from the rice, the crunchiness of the peanuts, the heat from the jalapenos and the kick from the onions and scallions.

That sounds really good. I've never had forbidden rice.. does it have a different taste/texture?

That response was written yesterday when I was in an angry state of of mind over something else.

The deep snark was not meant toward you.

Maybe one of those zuke recipes will allow said anger to subside.

Uncooked it looks more like wild rice than brown rice. It's kind of black / purple, a medium-sized , fattish grain. Cooked, it gets much softer than wild rice and it has kind of a nutty flavor.

It does sound good. I would probably substitute pineapple for the orange.
