    The animals are crammed into a small space, and according to the story, Canadian law says they can be transported for up to 36 hours without food, water or rest.

    But the claim in court is that this woman (righteous or misguided, people can decide for themselves) is the one who endangered the pigs. ... by giving them water.

    What a backward-ass, cruel, sadistic world we live in.

    The specifics of the case as reported seem a bit crazy, true, but as a practical matter you cannot have people approaching trucks that are in the process of transporting livestock and stopped at a traffic signal, let alone feeding that livestock unknown materials. It's a hazard on multiple levels.

    I am in no way in favor of the inhumane treatment of animals, but I don't know enough about the topic to know how 36 hours was decided. It certainly seems like a long time for an animal to go without water to me.
    On the other hand, I cannot think of a reason why protesters should be interfering with a truck in the process of legally transporting private property or interfering with that property.
