Do Vegetarians and Vegans Think They Are Better Than Everyone Else?

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by 3_Octave_Fart, Aug 7, 2013.

  1. Serve hummus and veggies, then call it a day.

Vegetarians think they are better than you by not giving in an inch (like serving shrimp or fish as an option) but are offended when there is not an option for them or if food is not cooked to their specifications. Allergies are not in play here. Eating an egg once in a while, like Mizzou's friend mentioned, is not going to kill anyone.

Ragu keeps making my point with each post. Instead of buying a bag of shrimp, he will lecture you on the merits of his food choices. So the answer to the thread question is, for some people, yes.

OK, so where did the Sunday tofu dinner come in?

You seem awfully offended that your mythological hosts are serving you tofu for Sunday dinner. Why isn't that an option for you?

Even someone with your reading comprehension problems couldn't have read into any of my posts on this thread:

    1) Me suggesting I am better than anyone.
    2) My ever having been offended by what anyone serves at a party (unlike you, according to your posts).
    3) And me having lectured anyone on this thread about the merits of my food choices. (where did I post anything on this thread close to what I bolded from your post?)

I will say that I prefered The Big bacon-hogging Ragu from last year.

This is the point where 83Devil retires to his garage for a nice steak and a case of beer.

    Is that a euphemism?

Which sounds good right about now.

And dream about the day when his garage is housing his hybrid auto and he can tell everyone who drives a gas car how much better he is.

Devil is one of those people my wife has been dealing with for a couple decades now.

Sort of like the guy who went off a couple weeks ago when he saw me heating up a veggie burger for lunch in the kitchen/breakroom at my office. Started with the "ew, that looks awful, how can you eat that?" and went downhill from there. Couldn't keep himself from informing me that he once went to a vegan restaurant (one that happens to be one of my family's favorites) and hated it so much he took three bites and couldn't eat anymore.

Hey, you know what the first rule of office lunchroom etiquette is? If whatever you're thinking about saying about someone else's food is something other than, "Yum, that looks and/or smells great," shut the hell up and don't say anything at all.

You never answered my question: Where, regionally, do you live, and what age bracket are you in? I think the pervasive criticism of non-traditional diets has faded out in urban areas, at least among younger people.
