Do you root for your alma mater?

I think if I still lived near my alma maters or had to cover them, I probably wouldn't root for them. I now live on the other side of the country and have yet to need to deal with them professionally since moving out here. Plus if anyone accuses me of rooting for local Big Colleges rival, I can say "What are you talking about? I'm an Indiana State/Ohio fan." :D

Absolutely. I try to go to a game or two each year and pretty much schedule my fall Saturdays around them.
I can understand why people hate Notre Dame, its arrogant football coach and some of its more entitled fans. I covered the school for four years and I know its flaws. But I unapologetically love the place. Both for football Saturdays and for reasons that have nothing to do with football.

Armchair, IM me the DIII school you went to.  I went to Wartburg, which is in the Iowa Conference.

Do I root for the alma maters?  Hell yeah I do.  They don't call me a looser fanboy for nothing when it comes to my high school and college.  Both school colors are orange and black, they are within a 20 miles radius, and I have a smile on my face anytime they win, especially against hated rivals and teams I can't stand to no end.

I'm not one of those kool-aid drinking myopians who think my schools can't do no wrong. The high school snapped a 60-game losing streak last fall. When my mom was in school 40 years earlier, they had a 56-game unbeaten streak (55 wins and a tie). It sucks to see those kids come up short, but I lend my support if needed to help the school.

With college, when I arrived as a freshmen, the programs was starting to win games in every sport. Ten years later, they are one of the top athletic programs in the conference. I get I'm on my local alumni club in Des Moines, pimping the school everywhere down here withing striking distance of Simpson and (fucking) Central College fans. I'm also fortunate to sit in the pressbox at home games and help round up updates of all the games on the laptop, since my coach is now the A.D. and everyone who worked the pressbox when I was there are still there today. In fact, the home opener is tomorrow and I'll be at the Iowa-Iowa State game for the first time ever.

Of course, this series will not be the same for ISU without Danny Mac:

Very much so, in every sport. In fact, I'm going to wake up at 8 a.m. tomorrow so I can check out the gamecast of them playing a 1-AA school. WOOOT!!

When you say Wisconsin, you've said it all!

Proud to root for mine. Went to D-II school that's still nearby but don't cover. They're about the only team/school I can still have a rooting interest for. A couple of teams I was a fan of as a kid I now cover and basically made myself numb to their success or failure.

Do I root for Indiana? Not since Bob Knight was forced out.
