    the current 7-11-type of owners don't care. they are not newspaper people don't care about anything other than the bottom line, even if it is decreasing. they just will create a larger percentage of roi by continuing to slash.

    but, and this is a monstrous but, even the folks/owners who care about quality are seeing declining overall numbers, which is what makes me believe this is becoming a dying medium.

    What's even sadder is how unprepared this medium was for the advent of the Internet and the need to attract an online audience. Reminds me of how network television didn't see the rise of cable -- HBO, CNN, ESPN -- before it was too late. 8)
