Sorry dude, but you're wrong here. It's well more than two inches and you know it. It's uncomfortable as all get-out when the person in front does it. No need for it on normal-length flights.

If you want to put your seat back - fine but you'll pay. Nothing I've outlined in my "treatment" is wrong or illegal. What will you tell the air marshall - that I turned the air vent in your direction or that my knee is jamed into your back?

You would be the only one thrown off Plane.

Exactly. Now, Boom, say something political so I can go back to disagreeing with you.

    Wow, guys.

Next time, take Greyhound and leave the already-uncomfortable act of flying to the non-douchebags.

The minute you step "on Plane" your personal space is gone. Sack up and deal.

Mmmm, nothing so satisfyingly hilarious as machismo on a message board. Whatever you say, tough guy.

Thanks. I'm glad you see it my way. Hope your next flight is comfortable.

I'm filled with the urge to recline my seat today.

Doug, I hope I never sit near you on a plane.

Had one of your kind on my flight from Cleveland to LAX last night. Luckily, she was behind me and I was in a nice, spacious exit-row seat. Did not recline once.

I'm with those who don't recline because I don't think it makes it much more comfortable but it makes it a lot worse on the folks behind.

The air vent trick could be good, though. Those things can be brutal in the wrong hands.

To me putting the seat back it the height of arrogance.

Ace as far as air vent trick when you see the offenders hair blowing you know you are on target.

The above fold portion New York Times casually drifting over the seat into person's hair can also be very effective and annoying.

The key is to offset any comfort level they have gained from putting their seat back.

Oh one other tip - its important when putting your seat tray back to slam it into back of seat. Sometimes those things get stuck.

  11. Was on a flight back from Miami a few weeks ago and the guy in front of me violently and quickly put his seat back as far as possible. I was watching my portable DVD player and the f'er almost broke the screen off the set. Needless to say, he took a powerful array of kicks to his seat and I "accidentally" elbowed him in the back of the head when I got up to go to the bathroom.

I like the accidental elbow. My kid got in trouble in school because he punched a kid in class who was calling him names.

I told him it was art class. Couldn't he have accidentally spilled paint on him or elbowed him when he walked past? No need to resort to fisticuffs.
