The first part is all true. That doesn't absolve Trump.

He's not a literal Nazi. He's a man so cynical and morally bankrupt that he pushes the envelope with abhorrent policies and intentionally obfuscates so that he can simultaneously get the credit from his base for punishing the Mooslims and have plausible deniability on specific details.

That's better than a Nazi, but not by enough.

Chinese PM: Are you going to nuke us?

    President Trump: Absolutely!

White House Press Secretary the next day as the we teeter on the brink of World War III: The president was brushing his teeth during the phone conversation, wasn't paying attention and misspoke. He never actually said the words, "I'm going to nuke China," so I don't see what the big deal is.

Yeah, speaking to an unidentified reporter while signing books in a large group of people is exactly the same as talking to foreign leaders as president.

I cannot see any reason why this man would be defended ... about anything. It's counterproductive to the national good.

Sorry, but I expect my president to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. If he wasn't paying attention, literally any other response or action would've been better than "Absolutely!"

What if the unidentified reporter asked point-blank about nuking China and he, the man with a realistic chance to become the most powerful person in the world, responded the same way? You don't think that would cause a shitstorm?

I agree. He should pay attention.

At the rate the GOP is going, in a few decades, they're going to be looked back upon in the same way that we look at the Federalist, Whig, and Know-Nothing parties.

In the age of ISIS, anyone who compares today's refugees from the Middle East to Vietnamese refugees in the 1970s is a complete moron.
