So, the work of every reporter who gets a paycheck or positive feedback is tarnished because they did it for their "own gain." Got it.

Sorry, no. Not every piece requires you to out a transgendered person in order to get it published.

Not every piece requires you to confront said person with this information.

Not every piece becomes "better" and more likely to be published when you out someone and that person commits suicide.

Grantland liked this story more because SHE'S A MAN, and because she committed suicide.

They thought it made the story more interesting, and more tragic for Caleb Hannan. Imagine that. They thought Caleb Hannan went through a tough time reporting and telling this story.

Poor guy. I really feel for him. I hope he's ok.

And we don't expect any more argument about it.

    It's a full backpedal.
He turned down a TV interview request to discuss the piece, according to his Twitter.
It really is too bad - the world needed him to come down the mount and weigh in on this again.
Maybe his toy dog can do the spot.

The work of every reporter absolutely is tarnished because we need these jobs to make our livings. We have stakes in our stories. To suggest otherwise is naive. But you probably think you're objective.

Take a breath, Vers. We aren't suffering any more today than we were yesterday.

This piece (as I explained earlier about her use of the Vanderbilt name) required outing her.

The suicide is tragic, and the story should have been more about that tragedy and not the putter, but your thought that her being transgendered and committing suicide doesn't make the story more interesting is fucking mind-blowing.

Let's just end this journalism thing, then.

BTW, this would be a jerk's post if it was written about anyone, not just Jones.
