The tarnish is minor on most stories. But if you don't approach the news with any degree of cynicism, then you should stop reading it.

I just think it's funny that a fat-headed ass runs his fingers for days and then clams up.
And you are not good enough to judge me, btw.

It's one thing to approach news with cynicism, it's another to be overwhelmed by it.

    Yup. 60 years old.

But some people are treating this story as though she was an 18-year-old waif who had no idea what she was getting into, had no idea that someone would actually check into the stories she was telling. Apparently those people believe that being a transgendered person makes one totally incapable of dealing with anything in life and, thus, it's just wrong to ever challenge anything a transgendered person says or does.

    Here's another question...

If Dr. Z is alive today, does she have grounds for a lawsuit?

I agree. You simply asked if every story was tarnished. Every story is tarnished. We're not omniscient automatons of the truth. Our stories are flawed. This one was flawed enough that it shouldn't have happened.

"Every story is tarnished" is too cynical for me. I understand the sentiment, but viewing every piece through that lens is counterproductive to debate, because it can be a fallback critique on anything.

Oh. Thank you privileged, white, college educated, straight, male for mansplaining this to me.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you are now defending something even the publisher is no longer defending.

You are to this story, what schiezainc is to the Redskins name story.

    Congratulations.

Lot's of journalist were happy to join in the praise of Hannan's article. So far, outside of Simmons, I think only one prominent journalist has asked for a mea culpa.

When the criticism first started, folks continued to defend the article -- and made asses of themselves in the process.

Now, nearly no one wants to publicly defend the article, or their initial response. Very brave of them.

And, Hannan, basked in the praise from his fellow journalists. Now, it's easier to find a picture of the mysterious Dr. V than it is to find Caleb Hannan.

Caleb, why don't you trust the media enough to talk to a fellow journalist about your story?

Thank you for informing me I am privileged, white, college educated, straight and male - even though you have no idea who I am.

You keep battling my critiques of your conjecture with more conjecture. You are an entity that does not think after you have made up your mind.
