If I was a transgender woman, I'd probably be upset that one of my own scammed her way through life by falsifying almost everything. Dr. V "hurt the cause" as much, if not more.

I've got to remember that Jackie Robinson's biggest problem was Larry Doby.

Do you think that an underlying mental illness or condition that also led to the gender confusion in the first place might play a part in the high suicide rates?

I think your estimate is way to high.

    Surely it's in the 90's, but it's not 99.9%

You're telling me that transgender issues are being ignored by the media. How do you define "ignore"? The New York Times had an A1 story late last year about how universities, seemingly overnight, have begun granting all sorts of insurance and counseling benefits upon transgender students. The New Yorker ran a lengthy piece about the issues surrounding teen gender reassignment.

MC, Dr. V, like many transgendered people, didn't even begin to transition to her proper gender identity until she was an adult.

A transgendered person feels like they are living a lie their whole life. Both before and after they transition, they are terrified of being "discovered" in the manner Hannan discovered Dr. V.

It's not unusual for a transgendered person to lie about other things too. You see the same thing in victims of sexual assault, especially when they are assaulted when they are kids. And, in fact, given the fact that transgendered women are sexually assaulted at a much higher rate than other women, we shouldn't be surprised to find inconsistencies in the stories they may tell, or the backgrounds they may imagine.

While I wouldn't imagine folks supporting her using false credentials to sell a golf club, I think many transgendered women see something of themselves in Dr. V.

The lies, the depression, the fear, and the previous suicide attempts are all part of the experience for many.

There is a Grand Canyon of difference between the lies and fear you talk about and falsifying your entire life in order to make money selling golf clubs.

I don't think gender identification is a mental illness or condition.

Dealing with gender identity issues can lead to issues like depression, which can lead to suicide.

Among the biggest gender issues are acceptance and fear for personal safety. They are rejected by their families and communities in many instances. Because there isn't acceptance of them at large, they often don't accept themselves as who they are. They hate themselves. They want to be someone different. They may marry and have kids. And, they still may commit suicide in the end.

So, while courts might be deciding that a transgendered woman can choose to use the bathroom of their preference, or their might be changes in insurance law, that's not the same thing as acceptance.

Whose personal narrative has more holes, Dr. V or Wendy Davis?

Who is using their personal narrative to reach greater heights?

Until we see the investment documents, I don't know what Dr. V claimed to her investors. To me, she doesn't sound much different than Anthony Bosch, who's clients were happy with his work, even if he wasn't really a doctor.

If it turned out Bosch was transgendered, would that be a story

Gender confusion is absolutely a mental illness.
