I'm pretty confident that "liberalism" includes people chasing their vices without the parental state telling them which ones are good or not.

The "wealth redistribution" piece of liberalism...I mean, shit, if you had nothing and somebody else had everything, and you looked around and saw no chance to get what they had, I think it'd be pretty natural to want some of it redistributed.

It was brought up on the Gangrey discussion of the article, but I haven't seen it mentioned here, but the day before young Caleb's article went live, Grantland published a piece about a transgendered punk rocker, in whis she was treated with respect:

    http://grantland.com/features/a-true-trans-soul-rebel/

Now, maybe Hannan's piece was in the works before this one -- he went on a wild 8-month ride, don't you know -- but, someone wrote and edited this piece, and was able to not treat the subject as a freak.

How did all 13 editors at Grantland look at Hannan's piece and fail to do the same, when it's clear they were able to handle the subject appropriately?

That's a classic "I never played the game" statement.

Thirteen editors did not look at that story, it's not as if they set up an assembly line and everyone looks at each story.

I wonder if he asked her to focus on the journalism, and not the journalist.

No. You're right. They don't have 13 editors look at every story.

Just the one where they out a transgendered woman, who then commits suicide:

I didn't see that. You are quite right, sorry.

Did young Caleb make, and then break, an agreement with Dr. V?

He spoke -- if even off the record -- with the author of this piece. He didn't convince her that he didn't violate an agreement.

When is ESPN/Grantland/Caleb going to address this?

    Try to keep up.

Don't just assume I'm wrong. That's part of the problem.

Shot walked back a false comment.

YF, it'd be nice if you did the same.

This is how many are reading the article.

    Simmons says it's not so.

I'm not sure why we should take him at his word. They didn't respect her gender identity at all. They've only put out a statement, and not answered a single question.

They don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

What have I said that was false?

Some of what I have said is opinion, and it's refuted only by Simmons' opinion.

What ESPN says -- after having it vetted by legal -- is no more "fact" that anyone else's opinion.
