Recess is over? Is that your best shot?

    Sigh.

You are claiming that crack addicts, because of their addiction, regularly hold up convenience stores and shoot people--homicide, right?

I am claiming that alcoholics, because of their addiction, routinely get into autombiles and kill innocent people--and as a whole bunch of people have pointed out to you--far more people than your convenience store shootings.

And, Hondo, because you can't connect the dots between the two, you keep going on an on about how the actions of crack addicts are worse.

But you didn't say "black crack addicts" but given your stance on anything non white and your defense of the mentally challenged Rush, it's implied.

At least Abbott has the decency to put his bigoted comments on the table.

How's the Muslim thing going? Any of them chased your family down the street and try to kill you?

  2. Poor, defenseless Rush, powerless over his addictions, sends his maid out to score his dope for him so he'll be able to take that sexy, sexy trip to the Dominican, with somebody else's Viagra.
    No drug problem here.
    No ethics problem here.
    Naw.

But he didn't rob a convenience store!

Or murder a convenience store clerk!

You guys are such simpleton one-trick ponies that I shouldn't bother. I never said Rush or anyone else in the same position shouldn't suffer the consequences of the law. I'm merely pointing out that he and most other pain-killer addicts don't resort to violent crime, and you know it. And the DUI issue is something completely different. Throw the book at them. But it has nothing to do with this issue.

It's just as good as your best shot, which is to simply call anyone daring to disagree with you an idiot or moron.
And since you played the race card in a situation where it wasn't an issue, may I remind you that I included meth addicts in the equation as well. Race isn't the component here. Addicts of drugs illegal in the first place resort more to violent crime. Addicts of prescriptions drugs don't. Common sense should tell you this, but that's something with which you're not acquainted.

    I fucking give up.

An addict is an addict. I don't care whether it's meth, crack, alcohol or painkillers.

The fact is, alcoholics are responsible for far more violent crimes than any of the groups you've mentioned.

    I don't give a shit about your anecdotal evidence regarding pain-killers. It's anecdotal--that's all.

Rush Limbaugh is a criminal. Guys who rob convenience stores are criminals. Your middle class white guy who knocks down six Bloody Marys, three beers and then kills someone is a criminal.

And guess, what, his crime trumps all your convenience store robberies in terms of numbers.

And your addicted painkiller buddy has the bucks to feed his habit--maybe he steals money from his wife or kids.

You and Fenian have very clearly displayed your lack of class with posts like this. My "drug-addicted buddy" has kicked it, successfully, with the help, among others, of his wife or kids. And he didn't steal from them. For you to imply that in a situation of which you have no knowledge, puts you right into the sewer with the post Fenian made earlier in making light of my friends troubles. Thought liberals were supposed to be compassionate. You two are pure and simple jerks, nothing more.

  9. Excuse me?
Liberals are compassionate. We are, after all, the people who have been standing up against the phony "drug war" for 20 years -- on public health and civil liberties grounds. You brought your friend into the discussion. It doesn't immunize you from the galloping bad faith with which you attempt to separate Rush's drug addiction from that of people less fortunate -- and less white -- than him. Moreover, he is a moral and intellectual coward, demonstrated over and over again, by his dislike of face-to-face confrontation, and, in our current context, in the alacrity with which he dove into the embrace of the ACLU as soon as he realized that sending the maid out to score his dope could land his fat ass in the clink.

The hell with Rush. I'm talking about you and JR making your arguments personal by your flippant remarks about my friend and his problems. Now crawl back under your rock.

Then you shouldn't have introduced him as Exhibit A in your silly argument.

    Go chase some Muslims.

I feel for your friend, hondo, and am glad he got things back on track.

As for Rush, if he were 1/10th as tough and honest as he pretends to be, he would have handled any pain simply by chomping on a bullet.
