It will also be interesting to see if those who got indignant over what Imus said, will be as indignant when some african American says stupid shit, wither about blacks, gays, or immigrants.

This is about a prosecutor playing to racial politics, appeasing the black community by dragging a bunch of white college boys through the streets because Crystal the whore said he wasn't paid for doing her job. This is about as racial as you can get. This was Emmett Till or Leo Frank, 21st century style. Until you realize that, whether you admit it or not, you are not as thoughtful as you think you are.

I said 21st century style. Can you get past the 8th grade and look at the bigger picture. Till and Frank a black man and a Jew accused of being with a white woman. Lynched.
Can't you at least see the parallels?

  5. Actually, no.
I see imflammatory idiocy gussied up as argument. There is no parallel that can be drawn by any higher primate between two lynchings and a misbegotten cowboy prosecutor whose case never went to trial and whose victims had the NYT, two television networks, and now the state of North Carolina standing behind them.
    Don't be an idiot.

I get it....I don't see things the way you think I should, so I'm an idiot.

  8. No.
If you think there's any kind of parallel between the quasi-judicial murder of Emmett Till and Leo Frank and what happened to the Duke lacrosse players, you're an idiot.

Look, I was mostly addressing the poster who likened the treatment of the lacrosse players to criminals who had been locked up with the key thrown away. I thought that was way over the top given that there really are a lot of innocent people who have been locked up with the key thrown away - hence the reference to the Dallas County cases in this thread. I'm allowed to offer perspective, aren't I?

I really didn't meant to impugn all SportsJournalists.com posters. I was making two points in that second paragraph: 1, that there hasn't been much note on SportsJournalists.com about the Dallas County cases. 2, There has been a national uproar over the Durham prosecutor but not over the Dallas prosecutor. I should have added an extra paragraph to clarify. Apologies to those on SportsJournalists.com who I unintentionally accused.

And, I'm sorry, but Mr. Giles had it tougher than Reade Seligman did. What they have in common is reckless and conviction-hungry DA's.

I don't...and never equated the 2. As for the 2 networks, NYT helping their case.....they should have!!! They had no problem condemning them for months on end. I agree, 99% of defendants are never afforded that....but 99% of defendants aren't the major news story and on the cover of every major newspaper, and top story of every network either.
