The major difference there is that anthrax vaccine had been licensed and used by certain industries for decades prior to 9/11. It was also in response to a biological attack with a weaponized disease, which could easily be a million times more devastating than a virus like Ebola. The anthrax vaccine is the only one I know of that specifically protects against a biological weapon.

By the way, those attacks killed five times as many people in the U.S. as Ebola has so far.

The disease has come to this continent (despite many experts, including the president, saying it wouldn't.) The crow has landed.
Comparing it to the anthrax scare is fallacious.
Enough of the wrong predictions already.

From your own link: "In the unlikely event that someone with Ebola does reach our shores, we’ve taken new measures so that we’re prepared here at home."

I'm not going to quibble over semantics, oop-like.
He was wrong again about something.

The difference between "unlikely" and "wouldn't" is not semantics. It's an out-and-out falsehood.

Please let's not turn this thread political. We need to keep it open as
a public service. If the outbreak becomes wider spread in the US we are
going to need this thread to share information.

He's a lawyer. He knows all the right weasel words. The meaning is inherent.
    He was wrong again.
I will back off the point- the lollipop guild is getting its dander up again.

  11. Do not get your hopes that a vaccine will come along anytime soon. How long have scientists been working on an HIV vaccine? How much money would it take? According to scientists who need a paycheck, the lack of money is the only thing keeping researchers from developing a vaccine.

I'm just glad it's not airborne (completely ignoring the fact a respirator is needed when treating those infected.)

I'm not sure why there's such a need to defend Obama.

I think everyone realizes he's not a doctor, and he doesn't have the ability to stop it on his own.

But, look, the President has also inserted himself into the conversation.

On Sunday, when it was learned that the nurse had been diagnosed with Ebola, the press pool was already in the press van to travel to the golf course with the President. (This is not a joke.)

They were taken from the van, and allowed to photograph the president -- through the window -- talking on the phone with the HHS Secretary.

As soon as the phone call ended, the president headed to the golf course.

Yesterday the White House Instagram feed posted a picture of the President holding a meeting with members of the CDC, HHS, and his national security team on he subject of Ebola.

Now, if the President wants to portray himself as large, and in charge of the fight against Ebola, then he's also going to have to take criticism for his actions, or lack thereof.
