Shepard Smith apparently got a hotline call from Rupert Murdoch:"Wall Street is shit today. Stop the Ibola panic!" Smith has spent the last half-hour admonishing people for overconcern and meanwhile, talking about his Ole Miss Rebs. "And if they lose to Tennessee this weekend, I'm not going to panic about that either. We're bowl eligible."

Did you read the survey or just look at the photo? The nurses aren't speaking specifically about the case in Dallas; they're talking about the level of preparedness of nurses (and hospitals) across the country.

Out of the 2,200 nurses who responded to the union's questionnaire, 85 percent reported that their hospitals had not provided education on Ebola. 76 percent said their institution had no policy for how to admit and handle patients potentially infected with the virus. More than a third claimed their hospitals didn't have enough safety supplies, including eye protection and fluid resistant gowns.

In the Dallas cases, it seems pretty obvious that: a) the nurses were NOT properly trained; b) the nurses were not adequately equipped, and c) the inadequately trained nurses made mistakes.

I didn't read the article, but I've seen plenty of people representing nurses over the past couple of days stomping their collective feet over why we shouldn't be blaming the nurse. That's what I am reacting to.

Again, I agree with you, and them, in the respect of preparedness, but to dismiss any potential blame outright on the nurse isn't helping anything.

I don't think anyone has suggested she followed the appropriate protocol. On the other hand, I don't think anyone has suggested that she knew or was appropriately trained for it, either. Both of the infected nurses are victims.

... and one of the photos made me cautious so I Tineye'd it and sure enough it's a WHO photo.

Pretty nasty if you ask me.

There was once a thread that actually was quarantined. It was a good thread. Then it got locked on Sept. 11, 2013.
