And now ECU is seeking Isom's permission to release information from his personnel file explaining why they fired him.

Ten bucks says he was shtooping the features editor, which would not be a bad way to go out.

Isom doesn't want to waive his rights for the school to release his info unless the school gives him a good reason.

That's an interesting development, the school basically saying "If he doesn't have anything to hide, why doesn't he authorize the release of his personnel info?"

The longer this goes on, the more I think there isn't a "good guy" anywhere in this discussion. Every single person involved seems to be a complete idiot or a complete asshole. And most of them seem to be both.

  5. So the school wants to release the reason for the firing to the media but not the person they fired?

    Brilliant.

I think the former middle school administrators running the show at ECU were caught off guard by the backlash.

What are you talking about? They can't release the reason he was fired. That's private. They're saying he should release the file, which he has.

Isom really should keep his Facebook page private. He's become unhirable.

He's mad that he lost his job. Should he not vent?

    Not on Facebook.

It's his own personal facebook. Maybe he should make it private, but still.

Irrevant if it's his own personal facebook. If he puts it out there, he's the one who's going to get hurt by it.

My wife does all the hiring for a mid-sized state agency, and one of the steps they take on prospective hires are checks of public Facebook pages. They don't "friend" someone and try to dig around that way, but just look at the public portion of the page. From what she said, the things they find on there do as much to DQ a candidate as anything else in the whole process.

That's one of the problems with our country.
