Deadspin put Favre's dong on their website. Nobody complained about that.

  2. I'm curious how it seems pretty clear?

  3. Romenesko had the ECU dong photo on its front page.

    Somehow the Republic survived.

He won't let the university release info about his firing. This sounds like the athlete who says he unwittingly took in some secondhand marijuana, knowing that the league can announce a suspension for drug use but is bound by confidentiality agreements from saying he had snorted enough cocaine to kill an elephant.

And from what y'all are saying he has chosen to shape his story on Facebook, knowing there can't be another side presented.

He didn't even question running the photo. He wasn't fired for letting the photo run, but for giving piss-poor advice.

I don't know about you guys' papers in school, but mine was a weekly and we did most of the design and editing on Tuesday night from 6p-4a because we were college students who procrastinated. It would be crazy to think the adviser would be there with us.

If it was an attractive female streaker whose photo was published, would you guys have the same problem with it?

Interesting thought. My question is, would it have even run? My guess is no. In my experience college kids like embarrassing males much more than they enjoy embarrassing females. I wouldn't have run the photo/story either. I question the photog who took such a detailed shot.

Hey, I'm sure he got at least a B- for photo composition.

The guy ran naked onto a football field during a game. How is publishing his picture in the paper going to embarrass him?

I also guess no. Can you imagine the outrage if a fully-nude female was shown on the front of the paper? That would be 1,000 times worse than the outrage over this, with NOW and other powerful organizations weighing in on the matter.

The managing editor, editor-in-chief and news editor all are female. I wonder how that factored into the decision to run the photo of the nude male? And I'm surprised there hasn't been much (any?) public comment from these 3 about their decision and the continuing ramifications of it.

And for the original question, I would have the same problem with a nude female as I do the nude male.

My whole point was that there was a certain lack of common sense involved here. That's all.
