Seemed like Brady underthrew the ball. Gronk was behind Blackburn.

Why do you think that Super Bowls have become so competitive the last few years? It used to be a huge joke that the Super Bowl was a blowout that didn't live up to the hype. In fact, I was with some friends on Saturday night in Indianapolis and one, a casual fan, quipped knowingly at one point, "What sucks is that the game is always a blowout!" Some people still think this.

    Wonder what changed.

P.S. Herman Edwards said on "Mike & Mike" this morning that Brady had to throw the ball to Welker where he did or else it would have either been intercepted or gotten Welker's clock cleaned.

Closest that I can remember a Super Bowl coming down to the last play was Titans-Rams.

A lot of reason why no more blowouts. Salaries being the biggest.

Why salaries? You mean the cap?

Michigan Man. It comes with the territory.

Not sure "arrogant prick" coins it. I think more "elitist" but not sure that coins it either. Maybe "Michigan Man" is perfect.

Brady seems like the Mitt Romney of QB's. As successful as he is, he is not universally liked.

So was Namath the Newt Gingrich of QBs?

Didn't Dallas try one against the Steelers in either X or XIV?

Manningham went to Michigan, I think.

Arrogrant prick seems a bit harsh. Elitist is probably more accurate. I don't think Michigan has anything to do with it. I think being around Belichick for so long has rubbed off on him and I don't think the impact his wife has had on him has won him too many fans in the football community either.

Guys like Brady who marry into pop celebrity or become cultural icons on their own, like Michael Jordan, make it almost seem odd to remember sometimes that their main job is to play their sport. Almost like it probably seems beneath them at this point to their crossover fan base to go out there and slum around with a bunch of no-names for three hours a week.
