In other words, I thought Belichick was probably wrong while I was watching it to allow the TD like that. I also thought he shouldn't have challenged the reception and lost the timeout. Then again, if he didn't challenge and the call was wrong ... whoo, boy.

Makes me almost begin go question the challenge system in place.

Agree at that point, you've got to weigh which gives you the best chance to win. In that case, it was time on the clock. With one or even no timeouts by that point, trying to march down the field in 10 to 20 seconds to try to set up a field goal was unreasonable. With Tom Brady, a time out, 57 seconds you've got to take your chances that he'll score a TD.

In the words of Bart Simpson, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Also, you must take into account that down the stretch, the Patriots receivers were dropping the ball as it it had an STD on it

Yep. Keeping with the percentages theme, I've got a 100% chance of having the lead with less than minute to go in the Super Bowl if Bradshaw falls into the end zone. If he stops at the 1, I've got a 0% chance of having the lead at the same point in time.

People say Tynes isn't automatic but I believe the stat cited was he hadn't missed from inside 30 (EPs included) in four years. But on anything over 30 he was 11-of-17.

Belichick did the smart move by letting the Giants score, but he should have let them score a play or two earlier. Seconds ticked off as I was yelling at the TV to let the G-Men score and give the ball back to Golden Boy. The play-calling on the final drive was pretty bad as well, even if there was 57 seconds left. Throwing a 10-yard pass to Woodhead with no timeouts? Not quite like the Pats.

Looks like the odds of a NYG safety as the first score of the game were 50-1. And some jackwad dropped a grand on that, and is now walking around with 50K.

With bets like that, I'm guessing that money doesn't stay in his wallet/bank account very long.

One thing about these playoffs: In a copycat league, the pendulum really has swung away from the "one voice"/one overlord front-office structure and back to one where the coach is just the coach. This is arguably seven championships in a row won under a setup where there's a G.M. overseeing the coach and picking the players. (I'm not sure how much power Payton weilds in New Orleans, but the other guys -- Cowher, Dungy, Coughlin, Tomlin, McCarthy and Coughlin again) -- definitely have a boss and don't even worry about salary-cap concerns and contracts.

Reid, Belichick and Holmgren, and especially some of the younger guys like McDaniels in Denver and Mike Nolan in San Fran, are a thing of the past.

Belichik the FRAUD is not a true sportsman.
A true sportsman not only eschews cheating but wins with humility - and loses with dignity.
    The FRAUD does neither.

And when they start giving out rings for having the lead with 1 minute to go in the Super Bowl, that'll be a good point.

    Until then, it's wrong.

Boy, Spock, it sure failed for the Giants. Again, nothing beats 100 percent.
