At my first paper, which didn't have a copy desk (!), everyone had an editor's title (on the news side).

    Executive Editor
    Managing Editor
    Deputy Managing Editor
    Senior Editor
    Associate Editor
    Assistant Editor
    Entertainment Editor
    Wire Editor

    And 9 reporters.

Needless to say, that all got blown up once a new regime took over.

    Thanks for the input.

As a sports staff, we have an SE and three full time writers (two of us who also take turns on the desk) and one part timer. It's about the perfect mix for what we cover.

    In news we have:
    Executive Editor
    Managing Editor
    City Editor
    Asst. City Editor
    Wire Editor
    Asst. Wire Editor
    Editorial Page Editor
    Obit Editor
    Family Editor

    Reporters
2 Family reporters (One is unfilled)
    City Reporter
    County Reporter
    Business Reporter
    Crime Reporter
    Education Reporter
    3 General Assignment reporters

    And a designer
