Tesla stock is down more than 60 percent from its ridiculous bubbled up peak. And it's still trading at more than 45 times earnings, which is absurd. And those are earnings that are not bankable, because the market for luxury cars globally is not that good right now in a rising rate environment in which they have stopped QE and asset purchases.

By contrast, General Motors trades at 6 times earnings. Ford trades at 7.5 times earnings. Tesla's stock has a long way to go down if the Fed continues with turning off the endless liquidity spigot that made Tesla's stock price go into bubble territory. And it's not because of Elon Musk or whatever nonsensical explanations those analysts feed their sheeples.

If 1) money was still being created and being pumped into markets at negative cost the way it was for more than a decade, and / or 2) Tesla actually earned enough to justify a premium valuation? People would buy the stock regardless of Elon Musk's Twitter antics.

It's interesting how a gazillion other high fliers that have seen their stock prices fall just as much have had it happen without an Elon Musk.

There's a whole squad* of well-paid and unfactchecked New Incoherence ideologues at work on the Musk-O-Files.

    Shellenberger being but one.

If anything, I think Musk's presence probably "protects" Tesla stock to some extent, because he attracts all of these weird nerds who see themselves in him. They'll "hold" the stock for longer than other people, and eventually go down with the ship, when and if that day comes.

Only a matter of time until Tim Apple writes a check for the Tesla carcass.

That’s the part that doesn’t make sense to me about MAGA Musk’s business acumen. He’s insulting the early adopters and biggest fans of his Teslas. It’s not the GQP folks are going to give up their F-150s for Tesla because Musk is suddenly fighting “the woke mind virus.”

He's an attention whore who grew up as a doofus smart kid without friends and thought buying a "bully pulpit" where his insights and humor would make him likeable. It's not working.

But people breathlessly retweet his crap, which only emboldens him to get even more ridiculous.

    Just like the Orange Cheeto.

Only if he really wanted to do so, as Ragu suggests.

It is also possible that he was delusional enough to think he would win the vote.
