Musk tweeted today he was buying Manchester United.

Despite the Glazers not being inclined to sell the club, outlet after outlet have treated it like a serious story. Amazing. And sad.

You have to treat it like a serious story. Man United trades publicly (who knew!?).

His antics can move a stock price a lot, especially in the environment we're in where there is still a huge amount of liquidity sloshing around and speculation is running rampant. He tweets something like that and it has not just a potential impact on Man United, it has an effect on Tesla's stock, which at its market cap is probably around 2 percent of the S&P 500.

Even when he later tweeted it was a joke?

All I said was that when does these things, you have to report it.

The stuff I saw pretty much just chronicled it. He tweeted it. ... Then he said it was a joke. ... some added context, like, add it to the list of eyebrow-raising behavior. ...

Musk says he supports "the left half of the Republican Party." That's like loving the good Twilight movie.

He supports whoever his next subsidy or bailout or some other form of handout is likely to come from. It's that simple with him.

Seeing as his previous similar jokes violated federal laws, and this joke could at the very least be a violation of his settlement agreement with the SEC, seems worth covering from that perspective alone.

My first thought when I saw that WSJ image was Channel Four was reviving Snuff Box.

What time (and on what thread) did @Neutral Corner link it?

Once this thread started 90% of anything I had to say about Musk was placed here. Most recent was mid-July, and that was the one about his father having his second kid with Elon's stepsister.
