    Meh. I mean, if he’s planning to lay off those people anyway, should he, as a business owner, wait until after Nov. 1 to do it? What sense does that make?

    I got laid off on December 2 from my last journo job. Nobody was throwing any pity parties saying Gatehouse should have waited until after Christmas.

    Hell, they laid off a pregnant photographer basically because they knew she was going on maternity leave for three months.

    Twitter, the company, makes very little interesting technology; the tech stack is not the valuable asset. The asset is the user base: hopelessly addicted politicians, reporters, celebrities, and other people who should know better but keep posting anyway. You! You, Elon Musk, are addicted to Twitter. You’re the asset. You just bought yourself for $44 billion dollars.
